We looked for a solution to our back porch for over two years and met with several contractors who could not come up with anything due to the complexity of the architecture of our home. We wanted something that was weather proof, and yet still did not make the back of our home dark. The Smart Pergola® was the perfect solution and has lived up to every expectation. What used to be too hot if the sun was out, or wet when it was raining has been the perfect oasis for our family, regardless of weather. We had a south facing deck that was not usable. It was too hot. With The Smart Pergola® we didn’t just add a roof on our deck; we created a usable outdoor living space. We use it all the time now. I love being able to control the amount of sunlight reaching the deck as well as the amount of daylight that reaches inside the house.
The louvers close tightly and have withstood high winds on the bluff. The roof and gutter system allow me to keep my sliding doors open in the rain. We hid red LED lights in the gutters which add a warm ambiance at night, but does not attract bugs. The motors work flawlessly and the remote control is easy to use.
The ordering process was simple and my handyman was able to install without difficulty. Tech support was only a phone call away. We hung solar shades from the exterior frame, giving additional shelter from the sun and privacy. If you are thinking about this, DO IT!

Claudio and his team worked long days in order to get our system installed. Claudio and his wife, Anna, were very helpful and answered all of our questions. We loved the view from our upper deck, but couldn’t use it in the summer due to the lack of shade. We had contacted several contractors about adding a roof over a part of the deck. Due to our unusual roofline on the rear of our house, the roof was going to be very expensive and not be very attractive. We were very excited when we discovered The Smart Pergola®. In 2017 The Smart Pergola® installed their system to cover our large patio. We use it regularly. It looks great, and it is well made. We have experienced some very strong winds coming across the pond behind our house, but the pergola has been solid. The Smart Pergola® stands behind their product. We have had one minor issues over these years (our remote was not functioning properly at one point) which they have resolved expeditiously at no charge. Claudio and Anna have been great from sale, through installation, to current date. We can always rely on The Smart Pergola® to quickly respond to any of our questions or requests. I can honestly say that I have never been more pleased with a contractor’s performance. We love our Smart Pergola. It has been a great addition to our home.
